OOTD: Old Navy

Hey ya’ll,

About to head out to do a little shopping today! It’s a beautiful and hot day in Atlanta…so I wanted to wear something comfortable and springy. All items were bought from Old Navy. The white pants, I just bought and I talked about them in older posts. And the top I bought last year.

See ya!

Memorial Day Layered Drinks!!

drink 2

What you need:

Cranberry Juice
Blue Gatorade Frost
Diet 7-Up
Ice cubes

What to do:

(Either in a Glass or a drink dispenser)

Fill the glass or drink dispenser with Ice.

Pour In the Cranberry Juice.

Next Pour in the Blue Gatorade Frost, BUT make sure that when you’re pouring the Blue Gatorade Frost that you pour straight onto some of the ice to gently add the layer. If you pour it directly into the juice it will mix!

Next, pour in the Diet 7up, also pour onto an ice cube to prevent them from mixing.

You could do this with any color drink combo.

You need to use drinks with varying amounts of sugar, since those that contain more sugar (such as soda) are denser than those with less (such as diet drinks), this makes it possible to actually stack one on top of another.

Also try in smaller sizes!

Memorial Day Bundt Cake

Memorial Day Bundt Cake

Post image for Firecracker Bundt Cake – An Explosive Red, White and Blue Dessert

  • 1 box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® white cake mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • 1 (12 oz) can Betty Crocker® Whipped Fluffy White Frosting

Heat oven to 325°F. Generously grease a 12-cup tube cake pan. Make cake batter as directed on box. Pour 1 cup of batter into a bowl and add the red food coloring, mix well. Pour another cup of the batter into a bowl and add the blue food coloring, mix well.

Pour the red cake mix into the bottom of the greased pan. Carefully pour the white batter over the red batter in pan.  Then carefully pour the blue batter over the white batter.

The blue batter does not need to cover the white batter completely.  It looks better if it just forms a ring in the center of the white batter. When you add the batter, do not mix with a spoon. Just pour it in so the colors don’t mix but rather, just rest on top of each other in the pan.

Bake as directed on box or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes. Turn pan upside down onto cooling rack that is placed over a cookie sheet. Cool cake completely, about 30 minutes.

Once cake is cool, equally divide the frosting into 3 bowls. Microwave the white frosting for a few seconds on high until it is smooth enough to drizzle over the cake. With a spoon, drizzle the white frosting back and forth around the whole ring in a striping pattern until you use it all.

Then microwave one of the other bowls. Before drizzling, mix in a few drops of blue food coloring. Then drizzle over the cake, scattering back and forth. Repeat with the red food coloring, making sure you can see the red, white and blue colors. Add sprinkles if desired. Set cake aside to dry.

Plus Size Swim Wear

Alright ya’ll!

It’s getting hot and it’s time to start heading to the beach. I know other sexy plus sizers like me have a hard time staying sexy when all we can find is frumpy swimwear. Like seriously, do retailers think that all plus size people are old blimp sized women?? Anyway I’m always on the look out for what’s hot and I’ve found some HAWT options. Halters and high waist briefs are in!! Check em out!

1. Rue 107

This site is great for the plus size girls like myself who are “thick”…meaning you have more mass and curves but not many lumps (for lack of a better term). They have a lot of form fitting clothes and body cons. Their swimwear collection is fab! The prices run between $20-$100 per piece

2. Monif C Swimwear

This site is hot. I follow this lovely lady on Instagram and she has made her own business. Her pieces can be on the pricier side but seem to be worth it. Prices range in the $50s range for 2 pieces (per piece) and in the higher $100s for one pieces

3. Forever 21

Last but not least, there’s Forever 21. They, not to long ago joined the plus size realm! And let me tell you…CUTENESS. I’ so excited to get my swimsuit! And the prices are MUCH easier to deal with! Prices range from $24-$27 for the whole 2 piece!

So ladies…there’s no reason to look, frumpy, pudgy, or like a beach whale in some ugly walmart blue!! Find a swim suit that compliments your beautiful body! Which one is your favorite??

Jumbo Senegalese Twists

Hey ya’ll!!

So last night I put some Senegalese twists in my hair. Usually I do them tiny but last night I wanted to do them a bit more chunky.

Products I use:

Cantu Shea Butter, leave in conditioning repair cream…as you can see I use this often.

Olive Oil Edge Control. This stuff is the best!!! I usually use it when I’m slicking my hair up into a bun. It doesn’t make your hair hard and control but it holds it in place. I used a very small amount on my finger tips so that the ends of my hair didn’t stick out.

O also used grapeseed oil which I don’t have a picture of.

The hair:

100% Kankelon braiding hair, I used 3 packs

I’m making a youtube video with instructions on how to achieve this look but here are some pictures.

My thick natural hair

It took about 5 hours with breaks. 3 packs of hair. I bought 6 packs of hair and was scared I wasn’t going to have enough because when I do my micro twists I use about 9 packs…so next time I know I can make them thicker.

Tip!!! DETANGLE BEFORE YOU TWIST!!! This is a protective style but you still wanna make sure YOUR hair is taken care of!

Questions?? Put them in the comments. I’ll post the video soon!

ManBacon’s Bacon Pancakes

This is a paleo-rific (yea I made up a word) breakfast using coconut flour! And who doesn’t like BACON!!1??

365 Days of Bacon

These aren’t your airy Bisquick pancakes. No sir-ee.

These are thick, egg-laden, go-back-to-bed-even-tho-it’s-only-10-am Bacon Mancakes.

To quote ManBacon directly, “Now those are some pancakes.”

And he is def the authority. They were his (amazing) idea.

He’s been requesting these heavy disks of bacon-speckled love for quite some time.

I really don’t know why I waited to acquiesce. Silly, silly me.

  • 8 eggs
  • 1/2 cup coconut flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 pinch nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 3 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup sweetener (I use Swerve)

  • bacon, crumbled
  • bacon grease
  • nut butter, fo’ drizzle  😉

  1. Cook bacon, set aside in freezer to get cold and crunchy, reserve some grease in pan for frying pancakes.
  2. Beat eggs, vanilla, and sweetener
  3. Whisk in coconut flour, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon.
  4. Using a measuring cup, pour pancakes into pan with bacon grease.
  5. Sprinkle crumbled…

Why I post these recipes while I’m on a diet??

Can’t a girl DREAM!!??

Lol but no. I’ve been asked a couple of times why I post such unhealthy looking recipes while I’m supposed to be losing weight. First off…I love to cook. Any and every thing. I’m not the only person in my household…and there is no way my boyfriend could get full alone on the meals I cook for myself! That being said…I’m also in the phase of my diet where I’m really confident and have a good amount of self control! No maybe a month ago, there;s no way I’d be able to cook all that yummy stuff without tasting (and by tasting I mean inhaling) some of it. Anyway, I hope this clears things up! Happy eating, dieting, cooking and whatever else! : )
