– One Empty Juice or Milk Carton
– Foam Sheet
– Craft Sticks
– Paint of your choice
– Hot Glue Gun
– Bird Seed
Clean the juice carton then cut out the door. Draw any shape you like for the door: circle, rectangle, square, heart. After drawing your shape with a marker use a razor blade or scissors to cut through the juice box.
Next step is to prime the birdhouse which gets the surface ready for paint. Use a spray paint primer (about 3 dollars at Walmart)
While waiting for the primer to dry start on the roof. Choose a bright acrylic paint for the craft sticks. The foam sheet was cut into a rectangle shape for the roof. After the craft sticks dried use the hot glue gun (or regular strong holding glue) to glue the sticks to the foam sheet.
Paint the birdhouse. The spout is a good support for the roof. In order to make both sides of the roof even, glue the juice lid to the other side of the roof. When dry glue the roof to the top of the container.
For the bird perch use the razor blade to cut a small slit under the circle. Then take one of the extra red craft sticks and cut it so it wouldn’t be too long and fit it through the slit. Glue on the inside to support the stick.
Make holes on both sides of the juice box container. Then feed the ribbon through the holes.
Add the cute “Welcome to the neighborhood!” sign (made of foam).
Hang and add bird food!
