Happy 103rd Birthday Great Grandma!!!

image

Yes you’ve read it correctly. Today my great grandmother has turned 103 years old.
She still maintains a house on her own, still cooks  and cleans. Her mind is still functioning perfectly. She is a funny something too LOL. The only problem she has is she is a little hard of hearing (which is expected) and she walks with the aid of walker.
She has lived through a time where blacks have been hung, burned, and denied the same rights as whites…and now she still lives through the second term of presidency of Barack Obama. She has seeb it all and then some.

What a blessing she is too my family and too this earth.

Happy Birthday Great Grandma! I love you!

Bacon, Onion, Mushroom Burger

image

Ingredients:
Ground beef
Onion
Bacon
Onion soup
Lettuce
Mushroom
Chicken broth
Cheese
Buns

image

Cook the bacon on the stove. Make it good and crispy!

image

When your bacon is finished it needs to be crumbled. The way I do this is I put the bacon in aluminum foil. Then I ball up the foil. When you open the foil back up, the bacon is in perfect little bits.

image

Next boil your onion soup. Make sure you stir so the mix doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.

image

Put your ground beef, bacon, mushroom (strained), and onion soup in a bowl

image

image

Mix the ingredients…but be careful it’s hot

image

Put the mix in the freezer for about an hour.

image
I used a griddle to cook the burgers

image
I put my boyfriend’s burger on a bun…but I wrapped mine in lettuce and added a little dijon mustard and ketchup.

image
Yuuuum!!!
Happy cooking…and eating

Healthy Strawberries and Cream Frapp

Jennifer at Peanut Butter and Peppers has come up with  a healthy version of the Starbucks Strawberries and Cream Frappuccino and it is DELICIOUS!!

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups unsweetened coconut milk (I used sweetened)
  2. 1/3 cup strawberries, frozen
  3. 6 medium strawberries,fresh, roughly chopped
  4. 1 tsp, vanilla extract
  5. 1/2 tsp. stevia (one packet)

Instructions

  1. Freeze coconut milk in a shallow dish. Once frozen, leave on counter to thaw a bit or microwave for about 30 seconds until it’s thawed enough for your blender to handle. Just don’t overheat it.
  2. In a microwave safe dish add the frozen strawberries and defrost for about 45 seconds. Mash strawberries with a fork. You are looking for the juice of the strawberries.
  3. In a blender add coocnut milk, vanilla extract, frozen strawberries with the juice, fresh strawberries and stevia. Crush/blend until incorporated about 2 minutes.

So how does it line up nutritionally with the Starbucks competitor??

Chickadee Deviled Eggs

This was the cutest little recipe to me!! It’s from Alison Artisan

This would be perfect for Easter or a baby shower!!

Ingredients:
12 eggs, hard boiled and peeled
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tsp yellow mustard
1 tsp salt and pepper
1 carrot, peeled and julienned (for the beaks)
3 black olives, diced small (for the eyes)

Cut the eggs horizontally when the eggs are standing tall. Cut them about 2/3 tall instead of cutting them in half. It makes them look more like little shell caps that way.

Using the mini muffin tin helps a lot! Put the filling in a small zip sandwich bag with the corner snipped off.

Tiny bits of olives for eyes and little triangles for the beaks from a carrot.

If you have to take these somewhere, put a sheet of wax paper over the top then another layer of cling wrap. If you are going far, put the tin in a cooler over ice.

Lastly, make them look cute…put them on lettuce leaves (get the shreds to make them look like the eggs in Easter baskets). Or you can just leave them in the muffin tin!

Majestic Medical Touch Spa Review

image

Okay so yesterday, my boyfriend and I got a Couple’s Spa Day at Majestic Medical Touch Spa. They are located in Roswell, Ga about 15 minutes outside of Atlanta. Here is my review.

The package: Couples 1 hour massage, couples 1 hour facial, couples 1 hour manicure or pedicure (we chose the pedicure)

Massage
-Pros: My massage was great. Jimmy did my massage. I carry A LOT of tension in my neck and shoulders. Today my shoulders feel so limp…it’s amazing!! It’s like all the tension is gone. Also, he always made sure that I was comfortable and that I was appropriately covered.
-Cons: The massage wasn’t a couple’s massage. I had my massage while my boyfriend was having his pedicure

Facial
-Pros: Jimmy did my facial as well. He was very attentive to my face. Today is day two and my face still feels much softer than usual. He put on a couple of masks, moisturizer, picked some filaments off of my nose. And his steamer is heavenly!!
-Cons: I like to know when someone is about to do something to my face. Sometimes he would do something to my face that I wasn’t ready for lol for example he put a towel that was hot as HELL on my face with no warning!

Pedicure
-Pros: I can’t remember her name…but the girl was nice and had good conversation and my toes look great! She did a foot soak, sugar scrub, and polish
-Cons: The pedicure was a bit short. There was no jet foot bath or massage chair that you may be used to. And there was none of the extra things that you get when you go to a nail salon for a pedicure (like a leg massage or hot towels).

All in all I enjoyed the experience. My boyfriend was absolutely thrilled about it all. All he kept saying was how relaxed and rejuvenated he felt! I definitely recommend them.
